Thank you for visiting our website.
Thank you too for your interest in our courses, most of which qualify, for existing nursery staff members, for funding from the Transformation Fund (please contact us for details). We are now enrolling for the Montessori Early Childhood Teaching Diploma and the Postgraduate Certificate in Montessori Education (2½ - 6 years), and the Baby and Toddler Course (0 - 3 years):
- 1 year intensive Montessori Early Childhood Diploma & Postgraduate Certificate (2½ - 6 years) - September 2007:
Two days tuition per week at our centre (Wednesdays and Thursdays) plus Teaching Practice placement located near our centre or student’s home.
The 1 year intensive course is an ideal way to study and is also suitable for those who feel they need support having not studied for some time. It provides additional opportunities to practice with the Montessori materials, more guidance and accompanied visits to Nursery Schools. Students from non EU countries will need to take this option as it includes 20 hours tuition per week required for a visa, and will need to pay one single payment of fees at the beginning of the course. (This does not apply to EU students). Assistance with finding local accommodation is available for students coming from outside the local area, or for students from abroad.
Staff members already working in a Montessori Nursery School may choose this option and work in their own schools up to 3 days per week, providing their school is willing to be inspected by the Centre, has adequate Montessori equipment, and a suitably qualified person at the nursery to mentor the student on a daily basis.
- 2 Year Course Early Childhood and Postgraduate (2½ - 6 Years) April 2007
This is available both as a daytime and evening course in different locations. An evening course will be available in the Bromley area, one evening per week for 2 years with an integrated teaching practice starting in the second year. Alternatively a daytime course will be held at Lewes, in E. Sussex. This course takes place on one day a week in the first year, with teaching practice of 400 hours in year 2. Coursework, such as the making of teaching materials, has to be done at home, rather than under the supervision of a tutor at the Centre as with the intensive course. The 2 year course provides flexibility for those who need to work part time within a nursery or who have other commitments, or for those who have young children. There will also be a course starting September 2007 in Chiddingstone.
All our courses require 12 hours private study per week and real commitment. Both one year and two year Early Childhood courses lead to the International Diploma which is recognised by Ofsted as a level 4 qualification for working in, or being in charge of, a nursery school. This course is also accredited by the Open University. Students who achieve a merit grade in all areas, are awarded 120 CATS points which may be used to get a year off a degree course (full degree 360 CATS). This course is also internationally accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education - see www.macte.org
- 2 year Baby and Toddler Course (0 - 3 years) September 2007 This is also a Level 4 course recognised by Ofsted, but at present it is not available as an intensive course. The next course will take place on one evening per week over 2 years, with teaching practice starting in year 2. Please contact the Centre for details.
If, after reading the course details, you decide that you would like to go ahead, please complete the Application Form and Medical Questionnaire.
